Dr.Mizan Siddiqi started working for International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDR,B) in 1988 soon after his return from UK after successful completion of his Masters in Nutrition from London University. At the ICDDR,B he contributed in several research project and established himself as a public health professional in the country. He then continued to work for Aga Khan Community Health Program as Director of the Primary Health Program and contributed in polio eradication, nutrition surveillance and school health program in the project area. Later on he become the Country Representative of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) supported immunization program in the country and assisted national immunization, polio eradication and child survival program. His international experience started as the Child Survival Director in Uzbekistan in Central Asia where he worked with the national program to implement Integrated Management of Child Illness (IMCI) in collaboration with World Health Organization.Later on, Dr.Siddiqi worked in Afghanistan as the Director of primary health care program in Northern Afghanistan. His career in child and public health made him the global technical adviser for child survival of a large USAID flagship program in Washington DC, USA and provided technical assistance in child survival in Nepal, India, Ghana, Uganda, Senegal and Nigeria. Dr.Siddiqi continued to provide leadership in child survival and led a large child survival program in Nigeria and implemented program to eradicate polio, control malaria and orphan and vulnerable children suffering from HIV/AIDS. Dr.Siddiqi founded Public Health Services and Solutions (PHSS) in 2006 and continued his public health work in West Africa, Middle East and South Asia.
Dr.Siddiqi over these years earned several awards for his outstanding contribution in public health. He has been awarded Aga Khan Foundation Travel and Study Award and received Danida Fellowship to study management in Denmark. He is also the recipient of of UK Overseas Development Assistance Scholarship Scheme (ODASS).
Dr.Siddiqi graduated as a medical doctor from Sylhet Medical College in 1984 and over these years received several post graduate training and degrees in primary health care, child health, epidemiology and biostatistics and public health.He studied in University College Dublin (UCD), Dublin (Ireland), Mahidol University, Bangkok (Thailand), George Washington University in DC (USA), University of South Carolina, Columbia (USA) and received his doctor of philosophy (Ph.D) in health care administration from Atlantic International University (AIU), USA.
